Reading - We will look at Lesson 1, Because of Winn Dixie. Additionally, we will use the story, Being Frank to discuss vocabulary and some review grammar skills.

Grammar - We will be talking about what is a complete sentence and then move into the four types of sentences.

Writing - The students will finish their summer writing piece. They will be on display on Wednesday for you to see at Back to School night.

The students will continue to learn about the 7 continents and 5 oceans by way of a song, puzzle, and group game. Their quiz will be this Friday, August 23rd. Students will be expected to correctly locate and spell each continent and ocean.

Math

This week we will continue with place value and working on standard form, expanded form, and word form. The students will be comparing large numbers and ordering them from least to greatest and greatest from least.

Science

The second module is Exploring the Skeletal and Muscular Systems. We are still waiting on our Lab Workbooks to arrive, so for now we are using individual sheets. There will be a vocabulary quiz this Friday, August 23rd.

Religion

During contemplative prayer, we shut our eyes and visualize ourselves in the most beautiful spot of God's Creation. The students will write an original prayer and illustrate this special spot.
