Hello Fourth Grade Families!

Welcome to the 2019-2020 school year! We are very excited to have your children this year and be a part of their academic, social, and spiritual growth.

Every Monday, you will receive an email from us with a link to our updated blog. We will use the weekly blog post to communicate upcoming class and school events and content that will be covered in class broken down by subject.

Along the top of this blog, you will see several pages for you to click on. Each page contains important information from our weekly specials schedule, field trips and class parties, and our fourth grade behavior system. Become familiar with each tab.

Looking Ahead....
  • Thursday, August 15th (Holy Day of Obligation) - All School Mass @ 9:30 in the Church
  • Wednesday, August 21st - Back to School Night in 4A (Join our new Pastor and Mr. Watson in the gym at 5:30 for a brief introduction. Then, you will be dismissed to our classroom at 6 PM.)

English Language Arts

Reading - We will look at Lesson 1 in our Journey's textbook, which is an excerpt from Because of Winn Dixie. We will discuss story structure.

Writing - The students will begin to work on a personal narrative writing piece about their summer adventures.

Social Studies

We will start off the year by looking at our world: 7 continents and 5 oceans. The students will be using a compass rose to assist them in locating each continent. The students will have a quiz on the 7 continents and 5 oceans next Friday, August 23rd. The students will be expected to properly locate and spell each continent and ocean.

Math

We will be working on place value, standard form, word form, and expanded form.

The students will begin their weekly goal of Dreambox. The expectation to receive full credit is to complete 40 minutes AND 5 lessons.
Science

We are beginning our module on The Human Body. The first lesson is Exploring the Nervous System.

There will be a vocabulary quiz on Friday, August 16th.
Religion

We are getting into our prayer routine including standard prayers, contemplative prayer, and personal prayer. This week, we will discuss finding God in nature.
