Happy Monday to all!
We only have three weeks left of the school year! Please encourage your child to finish out these next two weeks strong since grades are still counting. We want them to give their best, stay focused, and most of all be engaged in the learning environment. Summer is close!
Looking Ahead...
- Wednesday, May 8th - Book Tasting Party - Please join us at 2:15 to celebrate your children's growth in Reading.
- Thursday, May 9th - STAR Reading and STAR Math Assessments
- Wednesday, May 15th - Book Reading by author, Tim Vasquez - He is the author of The Taco Stand, and has graciously agreed to come to SFX and read to us. If you are interested in a signed book, an order form went home in last week's Friday Friday.

The students will have their last spelling test of the school year this Thursday, May 9th.
Reading - We will be looking at an Informational Text piece. Students will work on creating a newspaper article all about The Everlasting Tree.
Grammar - We will continue to look at comparative and superlative adjectives. We will also begin to discuss figurative language.
Social Studies
The students will be working in teams and create a family grocery shopping list and meals for the week all based on a specific budget. Just like in every family, there are always unexpected expenses, so they will even be faced with a few costly challenges. This activity ties directly into our Chapter 8 lessons and Junior Achievement lesson: Economy.
Math
We are converting improper fractions to mixed numbers. We are also comparing fractions and mixed numbers.
Science
We are working on Investigation three, Exploring Carbohydrates. The students will work in the lab and measure how many grams of sugar are in specific food items. They will have a vocabulary quiz this Friday.
Religion
We will be studying Ecclesiastes, Chapter 3: 1-8, and they will work together to illustrate a book titled To Everything There is a Season.
