Hello Spring

Hello Families,

Spring weather is here! This week's blog will serve as our last blog until we return from Easter Break. So, please read it thoroughly and check your child's agenda for any additional information.

We wish you all a joyous Easter and amazing, restful break!

Looking Ahead...
  • Wednesday, March 21st - Adoration at 10:30 in the Church 
  • Wednesday, March 28th - Living Stations of the Cross presented by 4th grade begins promptly at 9:30 AM
  • Thursday, March 29th - Half Day - Holy Thursday
  • Friday, March 30th - Good Friday - NO SCHOOL - Spring Break begins 
  • Monday, April 9th - School Resumes 
English Language Arts



There will be a spelling test on Thursday, March 22nd. All students will have the list of spelling words on Monday.

The students will continue discussing suffixes.

We will look at abbreviations.

We will work with the same story for the next two weeks. The skill is main idea and details. We will work extensively on this skill by writing a paragraph to summarize the story.

Social Studies

We will finalize our Google Slide Presentation and begin to present them.

Math

We are working on division of larger numbers by single digit. For example, 575 divided by 6.

Geometry

The students will be able to use addition to solve for the unknown angle measure. We will also study polygons. There are a few special quadrilaterals and the students will become familiar with them.

Religion 

We are continuing to work in our Totally Lent books. We will be practicing The Stations of the Cross Tuesday and Wednesday afternoon. Please try to keep your child at school as each child's role is important and we do not want them to have to miss a practice.

March Maddness is here!

Happy Monday!

Let the craziness of March Madness NCAA Basketball begin! Mrs. Ezell will be cheering on her Arizona Wildcats and Mrs. Grucky will be cheering on her Gonzaga Bulldogs!

Looking Ahead...
  • Tuesday, March 13th - All 4th grade students will get to participate in a Google Virtual Reality lesson activity put on by Google.
  • Wednesday, March 14th - All School Mass in the Church @ 10:30
  • Wednesday, March 28th - The Living Stations of the Cross presented by 4th grade at 9:30 AM in the Church - THIS IS A HUGE AND SPECIAL EVENT; YOU DO NOT WANT TO MISS IT!!!!!! 

English Language Arts



There will be a spelling test on Thursday, March 15th.

Due to last week's shortened week, our grammar test on adverbs needed to be moved to this week on Wednesday, March 14th.

We will look at the vocabulary skill of suffixes.

We will read a story this week about Caesar Chavez. Students will also view a short video on him. There will NOT be a reading test on this story or skill. We will work on different activities in class this week in lieu of a test.

Social Studies

Last week, we began to work on our Google Slides presentations. On Thursday, students will have class time to put finishing the touches on their presentations.

In celebration of St. Patrick's Day this coming weekend, students will do some research and enrichment activities on the country of Ireland.

Math

The students will find factors of larger numbers by using division, the associate property, and divisibility rules.

Geometry

Angles, angles, angles! We will measure, construct, and find them in our surroundings.

Religion

We are continuing to work in our Totally Lent books as well as preparing for the Living Stations of the Cross.

4 Day School Week

Hello March and Happy 4-Day School Week!

Please remember that we do not have school on Friday, March 9th as the teachers will be at a Diocesan Professional Development Day.

On Wednesday, March 7th in the morning, we will have Field Day. 4A students will need to wear GREEN and 4B students will need to wear BLUE. Students will have recces, lunch, and the afternoon as a regular school day. Please pack a regular school uniform to change into after field day is over as their clothes will be wet from the fun morning.

English Language Arts



There will be a spelling test on Thursday, March 8th.

We will continue to work with adverbs this week. There will be a quiz on this skill on Thursday, March 8th.

We will discuss the skill of story structure by using the story of Hercules, a myth, as our focus. There will NOT be a reading test this week due to the shortened week.

Social Studies

Last week, students began the research process on their assigned Native American tribe. This week we will review the basic tools in Google Slides and students will begin to create their presentation.

Math

The students will understand the difference between prime and composite numbers. They will also be able to list all the factors of a whole number. We will continue to work on double-digit by single-digit division with and without remainders.

Geometry

We will be looking at parallel lines, perpendicular lines, and begin using a protractor to measure angles.

Religion 

This week, we will begin practicing for The Living Stations.

We will pray The Stations of the Cross as a school community on Wednesday, March 28th at 9:30 am in the Church. Please join us for this beautiful prayer.
