Happy Monday Families! We are in the home stretch to summer vacation! Nine school days to go! This week's blog post will serve as our last one for the school year. Thank you for such a wonderful year! Your children have grown academically, spiritually, and personally. We are grateful for your support and partnership in your child's development. Have a restful summer!
Looking Ahead...
- Wednesday, May 15th - Book Reading of The Taco Stand by author Tim Vasquez at 9:30
- Wednesday, May 22nd - End of the Year Mass and Awards at 8:30 am in the Church
- Thursday, May 23rd - Last Day of School - 4th Grade Cereal Bar and Smoothie Party - NO AFTERCARE: DISMISSAL IS AT 12:00
Due to unexpected technological issues last week, we were not able to take our STAR tests. We are hoping to take them this week. Reports will go home immediately following the test.
English Language Arts
There are no more formal spelling words and tests for this year. For fun, we will practice spelling each other's first and last names since so many of us do not know them.
Grammar - We will continue to learn about the different forms of figurative language.
Reading - We will look at lesson 24, which focuses on the skill of Comparing and Contrasting.
Writing -As an end of the year activity, we will reflect on all we learned in fourth grade and write a newspaper for the incoming class.
Social Studies
This week, students will be a part of a new "family" and work with a specific budget to create the ultimate family vacation. Similar to last week's assignment, there will be unexpected expenses along the way.
Math
We will add and subtract mixed numbers with like and unlike denominators.
Science
We will complete Investigation 4: Studying Lipids (oils, fats, and waxes). There will be a vocabulary test on Friday, May 17th.
Religion
We will finish our Ecclesiastics book.
