The End of March

Good Afternoon Everyone,

It is hard to believe that we are at the end of March. Time sure is flying by!

NEXT WEEK IS IOWA TESTING!!!! Please make sure your child is present and on time daily, well-rested, and has eaten a good breakfast. 

Looking Ahead...
  • Wednesday, March 27th - Adoration for grades 3-8 at 9:30 AM 
  • Friday, March 29th - Pizza Friday and Lion King play - Be sure to check out the weekly eblast to pre-order your pizza and tickets! 
  • Monday, April 1st through Friday, April 5th - IOWA testing 
  • Friday, April 12th - Stations of the Cross at 9:30 in the Church 
English Language Arts



There will be a spelling test on Thursday, March 28th. The students will be making flash cards this week in class and playing a variety of spelling games.

Reading - We will have a comprehension test on Friday, March 29th on the skill of main idea and detail.

Grammar - We will be working on the skill of Abbreviations. We will have a quiz on Friday, March 29th. 

Social Studies

We will be reading Chapter 5 in our Discovering Arizona textbook. Students will begin to think about what life was like on a mission. They will record their thoughts in a journal format.

Math

In Fractions, we will be using the number line to compare fractions with unequal denominators.

This week, we will have a x10 and x11 combined test.

Geometry

We will be finishing this unit with a study on Quadrilaterals: parallelogram, square, rectangle, rhombus, and trapezoid.

Religion 

We will continue to work in Totally Lent and begin practicing in the Church for Stations.

March Maddness

Happy Monday Everyone!

Is your bracket filled out and have Gonzaga winning it all? The students will be working on completing theirs by Wednesday of this week: for fun. 

This Thursday, March 21st the Fourth graders have Field Day from 8:30 to 11:30 AM. Please pack a snack, lunch (unless they ordered hot lunch), water bottle, beach towel, and a CHANGE OF UNIFORM CLOTHES. Per the school rules this year, students will be expected to change from their field day clothes into a school uniform. Be sure to read the PE coaches email for further directions.

English Language Arts



This week's spelling test and homework will be DUE FRIDAY, MARCH 22ND because of Field Day.

Reading - We will be talking about the skill of Drawing Conclusions and Making Generalizations.

Grammar - We will look at prefixes and suffixes again this week in conjunction with our spelling words.

Social Studies 

The students will be presenting their Early People of Arizona Google Slides Project on Monday and Tuesday.

Then, we will begin to read about what life was like on a mission; San Xavier del Bac Mission.

Math

The focus in Fractions this week is finding equivalent fractions using division. (simplest form)

There will be a x10 and x11 combo test.

Geometry

We will be working on symmetry and the different categories of triangles: scalene, isosceles, equilateral, and right, acute, and obtuse triangles.

Religion 

We are working on our Totally Lent books and preparing for The Stations.

English Language Arts

There is no spelling homework or test this week.

Reading - We will continue to look at the skill of story structure with the story, Hercules. We will also watch the movie in class to do a compare and contrast. There will be a reading comprehension test on Friday, March 15th.  There will also be a vocabulary quiz on Friday as well. 

Writing - The students will be working on a simple, fun Oh the Places You'll Go writing activity this week.

Social Studies

This will be our last week working on our Google Slide Presentations. We will begin presentations next week.

We will begin the program Junior Achievement this Friday. This program aligns perfectly to our Economic standards. It is a six week program where students will learn about the process of running a business.

Math

We are still working on equivalent fractions using models, multiplication, and division.

Geometry

We discussed the different Polygons with a specific focus on quadrilaterals. The students will also solve unknown angles using information given. We will also discuss what lines of symmetry are.

Religion 

The students will be working in their Totally Lent books. We will continue to prepare for Stations.

Hello March

March is here! This week we only have 4 school days. Please note on your calendars that we have a four-day weekend coming up!

Looking Ahead...
  • Wednesday, March 6th - Ash Wednesday Mass - ***note the earlier Mass time*** 8:30 AM Mass in the Church 
  • Friday, March 8th - No School 
  • Monday, March 11th - No School 
English Language Arts



There will be a spelling test on Thursday, March 7th. All the students received homework last Friday, which includes completing 4 tasks.

Grammar - We will continue to look at Adverbs. We will have a quiz on BOTH Adjectives and Adverbs on Thursday, March 7th. 

Reading - We will be reading Hercules, a myth. We will stay with this story and skill for the next two weeks. Students will also do a compare and contrast the story to the movie. There will be a quiz NEXT WEEK on this story.

Social Studies 

We will be back in the computer lab this week to continue our work on our Early People of Arizona Google Slides presentations.

Math 

We are finding equivalent fractions using a tape diagram, manipulatives, and multiplication.

Geometry 

We are constructing and measuring angles. We are solving for the missing angle.

Religion 

We are making our Lenten promises. We are keeping in mind Prayer, Fasting, and Giving Alms. The students will also be working in their Totally Lent books.
